McQ's Sports Dome Welcomes Women and Juniors This Winter

The newly renovated McQ's Sports Bar and Dome in Bolingbrook is now open and offering some new opportunities for women and junior golfers.

McQ's, formerly the Ditka Sports Dome and Bolingbrook Sports Dome, has 50 heated hitting stations and its recent remodeling included the addition of two putting greens and a short game area that includes a sand bunker.

The Pink Tee League from Mistwood moves indoors for the winter.

Mistwood Golf Club calls it the Pink Tee League, a special ladies night which combines golf instruction with a social "happy hour." The program began at Mistwood in Romeoville this summer and is now going to continue in the off-season at McQ's.

Mistwood General Manager Andy Krajewski believes the Pink Tee League will stimulate social golf for women. McQ's is offering the program every Wednesday night during the winter, with golf instruction offered from 5:30-7 p.m. on its indoor range and drinks and appetizers from 6:45-7:15 after in the adjoining sports bar.

Visanu Tongwarin, Mistwood's head professional, and Chris Ioriatti, teaching professional at McQ's, will give one-hour lessons while waitresses serve cocktails on the range. When the hour is up they can head for the sports bar for more drinks, appetizers and socializing.

Registration for the Pink Tee League is $50, which includes an individual lesson with a PGA professional plus a gift. Each session is $25.

McQ's and the Mistwood Performance Center (MPC) positions juniors to succeed over the winter.

Juniors looking to learn the game of golf over the winter or advance their game to the next level should experience McQ's and the Mistwood Performance Center, which has become the leader in the Chicago area for junior golf development.

The MPC program offers juniors the opportunity to engage in specific practice sessions so that they can learn how to practice with a purpose, as well as working on fundamentals and maximizing a junior golfers full playing ability. The program focuses on every aspect of the game by utilizing the best technology available including Trackman, SAM Putt Lab, and V1 Software.

The MPC program at McQ's is lead by award winning instructors John Platt, 2011 Illinois PGA Teacher of the Year, and Mike Baldwin, creator of the Mid-American Junior Golf Tour. Over the past 8 years, they have produced over 200 IHSA state qualifiers and over 100 college scholarships.

McQ's will be offering introductory junior golf sessions will from 7-8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and 5:30 - 7 p.m. and 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. on Thursday nights. Registration is $150, and students pay $30 per each session they attend.

"This is group lessons for not a lot of money to start. It's an introduction to the game at a nominal fee," said Krajewski. "They get great instruction, and if the player wants more, the environment is there for him or her."

Krajewski taught at the facility in Bolingbrook prior to becoming general manager at Mistwood. He put the business plan together that led to Mistwood owner Jim McWethy to purchase McQ's last summer. Krajewski's golf professional staff oversaw the upgrading of the indoor facility.
