For years Bettinardi Golf has been a name synonymous with high-end, TOUR approved, milled putters. The Tinley Park, IL company is now expanding their line just off the putting surface to include a TOUR designed series of milled wedges. The H2 family of wedges are available in two finishes, Satin Nickel and Cashmere Bronze and range in loft from 52* to 60* in two degree increments. The H2 stands for High Helix, which is an aggressive machine tool that cuts the face of each wedge.
"This face milling leaves a unique, USGA-approved milling pattern that provides maximum spin and improved contact," says Robert Bettinardi, President/CEO of Bettinardi Golf. "The milled grooves on the face generate a very distinctive feel, while still producing the proper amount of spin from both wet and dry conditions," concluded Bettinardi.
And while I've only been able product test in my back yard thanks to it being December and all, the early returns are fantastic. The ball rally seems to bite off the face and I love the perfect sound the wedge makes upon crisp contact. This wedge is exactly what you would expect from a company that admits they've wanted to make a TOUR grade wedge since they were founded in 1998.
All wedges feature a C-Grind that allows the leading edge to rest on the ground longer, which creates maximum performance on open faced wedge shots. The H2 Wedges come with a stock KBS shaft and retail for $180 in the Satin Nickel finish and $195 in the Cashmere Bronze finish.
