Jonathan Parsons Becomes New Schaumburg Golf Club General Manager

The Schaumburg Golf Club has a new general manager this season. Veteran Schaumburg Park District employee Jonathan Parsons has been promoted to the position.

"I'm really excited for the opportunity," said Parsons. "This has always been a dream for me, to achieve this position."

A certified PGA Golf Professional, Parsons has worked at the Schaumburg Golf Club as Head Golf Professional since 2001.

Parsons, who grew up in Michigan, graduated from Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan with a degree in marketing and business. After he completed the professional golf management program, he went on to serve for five years as head golf professional at Sand Creek Country Club in Chesterton, Indiana.

He said he was attracted to working at the Schaumburg Golf Club because of the District's innovative practices and commitment to customer service.

"I've never seen a facility like this operated by a park district," he said, likening the club's service and amenities to those usually reserved for exclusive private golf clubs.

He was hired as head golf professional at Schaumburg Golf Club in 2001.

His goals as general manager, he said, include maintaining the high level of customer focus for which the course is known, while introducing new programs.
The most exciting change to occur in the past year, he said, was the introduction of the PGA Junior Golf League for players ages 5-13.

"We were the only park district in the area to offer this class," he said. "I look forward to seeing the golf course grow in regards to the juniors program and family night."

Parsons said he will work closely with other Schaumburg Park District and golf staff to deliver a great golf season.

The staff currently is creating programs and preparing equipment while the snow continues to fly. When weather conditions allow, the greens will be prepared. Parsons said the course's opening is weather-dependent and usually between mid-March and early April.
