SILVIS -- Todd Hajduk knows that TPC Deere Run will never be able to compete with the larger Tournament Players Club courses when it comes to revenue producing, just because of location and the length of the golf season here.
In all other aspects, though, the home course owned by the PGA Tour measures up. That is how Deere Run officials took home the top overall award handed out by Network officials this week. At meetings in San Antonio, Hajduk & Co. were awarded the Network's Club Operation of the Year -- Resort/Daily Fee category for 2016.
"This solidifies and justifies our efforts,' said Hajduk, who has been Deere Run's general manager since 2012.
The Club Operation of the Year Award takes into account all aspects of the business, according to Hajduk. He said that factors from food & beverage, agronomy, feedback on operations and service and how well they run their aspect of the PGA Tour's John Deere Classic went into to determining the winner. Deere Run beat out six other TPC clubs -- Sawgrass, Scottsdale, San Antonio, Louisiana, Las Vegas and Harding Park.
"This measures the performance of things we can control,' said Hajduk, noting another factor that helped was Deere Run instituting cost-saving initiatives at the facility that is set to enter its 18th season.
This was the first time since 2009 Deere Run has won the Club Operation of the Year honor.
"This solidifies that we are doing the right things, and the PGA Tour is happy with what we're doing and recognizes us for our efforts,' said Hajduk. "I'm very proud of our team. An award like this makes you feel good about things.'
